Tennis South Africa (TSA) and WIPHOLD are excited to announce the return of WIPHOLD International tournaments for the third consecutive year. This season's events will take place in Tshwane from 16 February to 3 March 2025 at TuksTennis, University of Pretoria.
For the first time, this year’s events will include men’s tournaments, expanding the competition that previously featured only women’s events. The two weeks of back-to-back tournaments will now be combined men’s and women’s events, each offering a $15,000 prize pool - amounting to a total prize purse of $60,000 across the two weeks. These events present a great opportunity for South Africa’s rising tennis stars to compete against international professionals, earn valuable ranking points and contend for prize money.
With these additions, South Africa now boasts a total of seven weeks of international professional tournaments for both women and men, including other events hosted in partnership with Curro Holdings.
As part of the ITF World Tennis Tour, the WIPHOLD Internationals serve as an important stepping stone from junior tennis to the elite professional circuit. The events will attract a diverse mix of South Africa’s top junior players, emerging local professionals, and international talent from across Africa and beyond, ensuring high-quality competition.
“The WIPHOLD Internationals have become some of our flagship events, providing an important platform for South African players to gain valuable experience and ranking points while competing on home soil. These tournaments underscore TSA’s commitment to expanding professional tennis opportunities in South Africa and nurturing the next generation of tennis stars. We are incredibly grateful to WIPHOLD for their continued support,” said TSA General Manager Anthony Moruthane.
WIPHOLD Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, Louisa Mojela, added, “WIPHOLD is proud that this is the third consecutive year of sponsoring this WIPHOLD International Tournament. We believe this tournament is a stepping stone for South Africa’s junior players as well as the emerging professionals to compete with some of the best international players. We cannot wait to watch and cheer them as they show their talent both locally and internationally.”
